Len Marinaccio's Zone Diet Site
In a book entitled "The Zone", Barry Sears introduces an entirely new paradigm for health. Based on the hormonal consequences of the food you eat, the "Zone Diet" was developed. By balancing the ratios of protien, carbohydrates and fat in the diet, dramatic improvements in health can be acheived in a matter of a couple weeks or so.
After I started this diet, I quickly found that it can be a little challenging having to read labels and count up all those grams of protein, carbs and fat and then figure out what the ratio is. Be that as it may, I have taken enough of an interest in it to begin assembling some resources that will make it easier for anybody who decides to try this diet.

I'd like to share a little information for those who may be unfamiliar with this diet but first, realize this: I'm not a doctor and even though I have played one on TV, I am not AMA sanctioned and nothing that I say or write should be considered medical advice. Now for those of you are interested in knowing more about the Zone Diet here's what I've got:
 | An introduction to the Zone diet - This is important if you want to understand anything on this site! It won't take long to read and for it's small size, this intro covers a lot.
 | I've created something called ZoneBuddy, a spreadsheet application that keeps track of foods and their nutritional values. Further, it allows the user to create meal plans, recipes and "what if" scenarios and the program reports the ratio acheived. I got two versions, one written for Excel 5.0 (or greater) and one for Lotus 1-2-3 v2.0 (which runs with many other spreadsheet programs besides Lotus). It's very handy and I've had great response to it! Oh yes, it's free too.
 | Another handy program is called Zone Pro which calculates your body fat percentage, lean body mass and your own personal "Zone" requirements profile. This took a while because I wanted it to be able to handle extreme cases that aren't covered in the book (such as very heavy people or unusually tall women).
 | Fill out my Zone survey and help build a statistical database. The Zone sounds like an impressive diet but how well does it really work? The results of this on-going survey will help to determine that. Don't be afraid to leave your name and e-mail address (I won't spam you). I ask this so that I can track re-submissions.
 | Recipes! Soon (with great help from my girlfriend and others) "Zone" compliant recipes will be available. This will take a while as we are still experimenting and I'm doing other Zone related things.
